For a first time visitor, no matter what you are after, check out the following shops: ODEL, Crescat Boulevard, Cotton Collection, Dilly’s, Paradise Road, Barefoot,Giordano Store,Beverly Street, House of Fashion especially for ladies “Kelly Felder” and gentlemen formal wear “ Shirt Works” & “Hameedia”

Also Barefoot and Paradise Road have delicious cafes attached for a quick bite or a nice meal.

Another good shopping area if you’re looking for crafts is the Laksala Emporium. Run by the government, the goods here are more expensive, but usually top-notch. Selections range from painted wooden masks and lacquerware to batik and handloom cloth. For other high-quality items, check the Handloom Emporium, the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewelry Exchange, and the shops around the Cinnamon Gardens.

Larger scale shopping is available, too, at Crescat Boulevard and Majestic City , both on Galle Road . These larger malls features clothing stores, restaurants, supermarkets, and cinemas.

Many shoppers in Sri Lanka have their eye out for the famous Ceylon tea. One safe bet is Tea Tang, with locations at Liberty Plaza , Galle Face Court , the World Trade Center , and the airport. Another good option is Miesna Tea, with shops at Liberty Plaza , Majestic City , the Hilton, Crescat Boulevard , and the airport.The world famous Dilmah tea is available at all super markets such as Cargills, Keels and Arpico.

Unity Plaza is the equivalent of Pantip Plaza of Bangkok in Colombo. Computers, Lap tops, Accessories, DVDs, Printers, Cartridges can be bought at very competitive prices here at Colombo. A Famous retailer is PC House which has branches island wide and sells quality stuff with warranty.

Sri Lanka produces world class porcelain and the best place to buy them are either from Noritake showroom and Dankotuwa showroom located opposite to each other at 320, Galle Road, Colombo 3. It is common to see customers crossing the street from one shop to the other bargaining and comparing stuff. Both the makers have export packing which is safe in a flight.
